Purpose of use

This image, placed within an article on the past predictions by the Watch Tower Society of the end of the world and the beginning of God's kingdom, is the primary means of illustrating the emphasis placed in the early 1970s on expectations that Armageddon would take place in 1975. Description of the badge by text alone is insufficient as this image provides tangible proof of the prominence at the time of a teaching which the Watch Tower Society and Jehovah's Witnesses have subsequently minimized and denied.

Other information

The lapel badge was intended for a very short-term use (the two-day duration of each assembly). Such badges are typically discarded immediately after they have been worn. The image reproduced here therefore has no commercial value to the copyright owner and its reproduction here, as an image of significant historical significance in the context of a religious doctrine, has no commercial detriment to that owner.
