Summary
The backside of the Palisades, also known as Bergen Mountain, can be seen on the eastern horizon in this photo taken from the top of w:First Watchung Mountain along the border of Hawthorne and North Haledon. This distance between the two ridges is 13 miles, forming a sizable shallow valley that covers much of northeastern w:New Jersey.
