Portrait of Thomas Webbe(d.1780), linen draper, of York Street, St Paul's, Covent Garden (1740s), Brook Green Hammersmith (1770s). By circle of Joseph Highmore (1692-1780). Sold by Sotheby's Olympia, London, 13 July 2005, sale no.W05703, lot 4, estimate £1,920. Provenance: hanging at Sutton Place, Surrey in 1893, as described by Frederic Harrison in "Annals of an Old Manor House, Sutton Place, Guildford, London, 1899, p.197. Thomas Webbe was the father of John Webbe-Weston, heir of Sutton Place in 1782. The same artist made a portrait of his wife Anne Tancred.
