Description
English: The only known Assyrian statue of a naked woman, erected at the temple of Ishtar in Nineveh (Northern Mesopotamia, modern-day Iraq). The cuneiform inscription on this limestone statue states that the king ordered this statue to be made for the enjoyment of the people. Middle Assyrian Period, reign of Ashur-bel-kala, 1073-1056 BCE. Currently housed in the British Museum, London.
