Object history La obra formaba parte de un conjunto pictórico encargado por Joaquín Cayetano Cavero Ahones y Pueyo de la Sierra (1735-1788), conde de Sobradiel para decorar el oratorio de su palacio en Zaragoza. En 1926 fueron arrancados y traspasados a lienzo y en 1929 la condesa de Gabarda los depositó en el Museo de Zaragoza. En 1930, todos aquellos fueron adquiridos por Carlos Francisco Javier del Valle Grao, quien levantó el depósito en 1932, a excepción del Sueño de San José, debido a su mal estado de conservación. En 1965 pasó a formar parte de la colección del museo mediante compra gracias a una suscripción popular.
