Summary

Description
English: The diagram depicts the expansion of the universe and the relative observer phenomenon.

The blue galaxies have expanded further apart than the white galaxies. When choosing an arbitrary reference point such as the gold galaxy or the red galaxy, the increased distance to other galaxies the further away they are appear the same.

This phenomenon of expansion indicates two factors: there is no centralized point in the universe, and that the Milky Way Galaxy is not the center of the universe. The appearance of centrality is due to an observer bias that is equivalent no matter what location an observer sits.

This physics image could be re-created using vector graphics as an SVG file. This has several advantages; see Commons:Media for cleanup for more information. If an SVG form of this image is available, please upload it and afterwards replace this template with {{vector version available|new image name}}.

It is recommended to name the SVG file “Space Expansion (no center).svg”—then the template Vector version available (or Vva) does not need the new image name parameter.
