Summary

Description
English: Baculites from my collection; pic taken by me on 3/13/05. They are pyritized to a large extent. Some also show traces of the original nacre (aragonite; mother-of-pearl) shells. Baculites are a kind of ammonite. These come from the Pierre Seaway strata of South Dakota, USA. They are internal molds, and the suture lines of the internal septa can be seen.
