Towering high above the city is Australia's newest and finest medical structure, built as a civic enterprise as the Royal Melbourne Hospital. Today, renamed the United States Army Fourth General Hospital, it is a healing place for American soldiers and sailors. A three million dollar lump sum of reciprocal lend-lease was handed over to the United States before it ever had a civilian occupant
