Description
Français : Première messe chantée sur les bords de la rivière des Prairies par le R. P. Denis Jamay, 24 juin 1615. Toile marouflée située dans le transept ouest de la cathédrale-basilique Marie-Reine-du-Monde à Montréal, février 1908 par Georges Delfosse. Les missionnaires récollets Joseph Le Caron et Denis Jamet célébrent la messe autour d'un groupe comprenant Samuel de Champlain. Il relate dans ses récits que les Amérindiens étaient en admiration devant les cérémonies et les ornements religieux.[1].

Le 24 juin 1615, le Père Denis Jamay, un récollet, célèbre la première messe à la Rivière-des-Prairies. Le Père Joseph Le Caron tient le bord de sa chasuble. Samuel de Champlain, le fondateur

de Québec, est au centre[2].
