plate brooch
Description
English: Cast copper alloy plate brooch diameter 36mm, thickness 10mm, weight 14.6g. In the centre is a circular depression (8m diameter) that would have held a stone or mount which would have been attached via a rivet in the centre. The sides of the central setting are raised, on the outside these edges gently fall away to the edge of the plate, giving the centre a low conical shape. Slightly curved radiating lines emanate from the central setting, these lines are raised, the recesses in between are filled with orange enamel. At the terminal of each line is a pellet. The edge of the plate has a raised border.
The reverse has the mount for the pin and the catch plate but the pin is missing.
