Description

Two panels from Maus, showing Art Spiegelman's difficulty in presenting characters' races as animals when the race of the character cannot be determined.
In these panels, a character who is accused of being a Jew claims to be a German. Vladek, narrating the story, cannot be sure if the person was actually a Jew or a German, thus Art's connundrum
