Summary

Mary, the granddaughter of John Campbell, married James Coutts, a Scottish banker, in 1755. Her uncle, George Campbell, made James a partner, and renamed the bank "Campbell and Coutts". The partnership lasted five years until 1760, when both Mary and George died in the same year.
