Description
(según ficha en [1] Retrato de Leocadia Zorrilla). Durante más de un siglo, la mujer del retrato fue considerada Josefa Bayeu, la esposa de Goya (así figura en el inventario de Nuevas Adquisiciones de 1872, cuando el cuadro entró en el Museo del Prado procedente de Toledo, del Museo de la Trinidad). En buena lógica, sin embargo, y considerando que Josefa nació en 1747 y murió en 1812, es muy probable que fuera la dama aquí retratada, cronológicamente situada la obra hacia 1815, en virtud de su vestimenta y peinado. Posteriores estudios han apoyado la tesis de que sea Leocadia y no Josefa; en especial un conjunto de retratos de su madre hechos por Rosario Weiss en Burdeos, entre 1824-1828.
