File:Lake Perucac Bosnia-Serbia volunteers searching for remains of Visegrad 1992 massacre victims 19-10-2010 taken by Velija Hasanbegovic.jpg

Summary

Description
English: Volunteers assist Bosnian Institute for Missing Persons investigations at Lake Perucac (Bosnia/Serbia border) on 19-10-2010. The lowered level of the reservoir behind the Bajina Basta dam had revealed remains of bodies disposed of in the River Drina during the 1992 Visegrad massacres when Bosnian Serb forces eliminated the majority Bosniak population of Visegrad - because of the imminent refilling of the reservoir there was very little time available to conduct a proper search of the "largest mass grave in Europe". A large number of volunteers travelled to the isolated location to assist the staff of the Institute. Velija Hasanbegovic, himself a survivor of the massacres, documented the work of the investigators as they recovered complete skeletal remains and dispersed bones for DNA-assisted identification and proper burial.
