Summary

Description

Laverda Jota is a Laverda 1000cc motorcycle modified by the importers Slater Bros. of Collington, England. The Jota made a big impression in 1976. Producing 90 hp and reaching speeds of more than 140 mph, it was the fastest production motorcycle to date.[1]

The Laverda Jota model ran from 1976 through to 1982. Originally fitted with a crankshaft with 180° crankpin phasing and an alternator on the righthand side of the engine till 1982. Then from 1982 the Jota 120° was released which had the crankpin phasing to 120° and this model made a completely different sound. Also, the alternator was moved to the lefthand side of the bike.

The 3 cylinder 3CL was improved by adding high lift camshafts and less restrictive exhausts. It is named after jota a Spanish dance in triple time.
