Summary

Description
English: Distribution of Y-DNA haplogroup D (D-CTS3946 per 2021 February). Haplogroup D is one of the four major East-Eurasian lineages, next to O, C and N (sometimes sub-clades of P are also considered). Haplogroup D has its highest frequency in Tibeto-Burmese speaking populations with the greatest diversity found in modern Tibetans (western Tibet), which also have the most basal samples of DE*. D seem to have spreaded with East-Eurasian ancestry into modern day Andamanese, which share their closest clade with the Tibeto-Burmese speaking Riang (Tripura) tribes of Northeastern India (which correspond to their estimated 30% to 45% East Asian-like ancestry) as well as into Ainu people, which formed from the diverse Jomon period groups (specifically the Okhotsk and Satsumon sub-groups). D is found in low frequency among East Asians and Central Asians, with the Japanese having medium frequency from 25% to 35%. Altaians, next to other Turkic speaking peoples have low to medium frequency, ranging from 2% up to 16%.
