Summary

Description
English: The mosque (here seen across the pond) is located on the south side of the Halil ür-Rahman Lake (Balıklıgöl). The mosque is also known as the "Döşeme Mosque". In 504 the priest Urbisyus built a church dedicated to the Virgin Mary. It was converted into a mosque during the reign of Abbasid Caliph Me'mun (813-833). The minaret was repaired by Selahattin Eyyubi's nephew, El Melik'ül Eşref Muzafferüddin Musa, in 1211-1212 and still stands. The building was restored during the reign of Suleiman the Magnificent (1520-1566). In 1810, the building underwent extensive repairs. Evliya Çelebi mentions this mosque as "İbrahim Halil Lodge" in his Travel Book. In a room next to the mosque one can see fishes that swim in from the pond. It supposedly is the spot where Abraham was thrown into the fire.
