Description AWM caption: PORT BOW VIEW OF THE DESTROYER ESCORT HMAS TORRENS (II) (53). THE TWIN 4.5 INCH MARK 6 GUN MOUNT FORWARD IS CONTROLLED BY THE M22 GUNNERY RADAR ENCLOSED IN THE SPHERE AT THE MASTHEAD. JUST BELOW IT IS THE 8GR301 NAVIGATION SURFACE SEARCH RADAR. THE LARGE ANTENNA ABAFT THE FUNNEL IS FOR AN LW02A AIR SEARCH RADAR. IMMEDIATELY BEHIND IT IS THE M44 RADAR WHICH CONTROLS THE SEACAT CLOSE RANGE SURFACE TO AIR GUIDED MISSILE SYSTEM, THE LAUNCHER FOR WHICH IS MOUNTED A DECK LOWER. IN THE BACKGROUND IS THE DESTROYER ESCORT HMAS YARRA. NOTE THE DIFFERENT POSITIONING OF THE LW02 ANTENNA. (NAVAL HISTORICAL COLLECTION)
