Summary

Description
English: Gas discharge tubes (Geissler tubes) in a laboratory, containing various gases which produce different color spectral lines for scientific spectroscopy experiments. The light is produced by applying a high voltage between the metal electrodes at the top and bottom of the tubes. This ionizes the gas in the tube, which produces light by fluorescence when the electrons recombine with the ions.
