Description
English: A Fairbanks-Morse diesel engine (model 32E14) and pump used for pumping canal water, on display at John Stretch Memorial Park. This 3-cylinder engine produced 225 horsepower, at a maximum of 300 rpm, with a 14-inch bore and a 17-inch stroke. The pump has a horizontal propeller, with an axial flow design, and a 48-inch diameter opening, and could pump 80,000 gallons per minute. It was put into use by the Central and Southern Water Management District during the 1940s, and retired from service on May 28, 1991.
