Description
English: Tondo of the so-called « Coupe à l'oiseleur » (“Birdcatcher cup”), Ionian black-figure cup. From Etruria (?), made in East of Greece ca. 550 BC. Two birds, little birds in a nest, a grasshoper and a snake are dispersed in a luxuriant vegetal background, where the central character moves (perhaps Dionysos if the foliage trees are vine stocks).
Français : Tondo d'une coupe ionienne à figures noires dite « coupe à l'oiseleur ». Provenance : Étrurie (?), fabriqué dans la Grèce de l'est v. 550 av. J.-C. Deux oiseaux, des oisillons dans un nid, une sauterelle et un serpent sont dispersés dans un décor végétal luxuriant où évolue le personnage central (peut-être Dionysos si les arbres à ramures sont identifiés à des ceps de vigne).
