Summary

Description The Condict Store at 55 White Street between Broadway and Church Street in the Tribeca neighborhood of Manhattan, New York City was built in 1861 and was designed by John Kellum & Son in the cast-iron "sperm-candle" Italianate style -- so called because the columns resemble candles made from sperm-whale oil. The cast-iron facade came from Daniel D. Badger's Architectural Iron Works. The building was constructed for the saddlery business of John & Samuel Condict, and was restored when it was converted to residences in 1988-89. It was designated a NYC landmark in 1979.
