Description
English: Bronze Mirror. Exhibition "Treasures of China", Canadian Museum of Civilization, 2007.
  • Eastern Zhou Dynasty, Warring States Period (475 - 221 B.C.)
This round, polished mirror features a knob on the back for hanging; three rings encircle the knob, along with six characters for "mountain". Between the "mountain" characters, a traditional symbol of stability and tranquility, are patterns of feathers and leaves. Mirrors with three to five such "mountain" characters are common, but a mirror with six is rare.
