For documentary purposes the German Federal Archive often retained the original image captions, which may be erroneous, biased, obsolete or politically extreme.
In einer württembergischen Stadt nahm am Mittwoch Nachmittag das deutsche Volk in einem feierlichen Staatsakt Abschied von einem seiner bedeutendsten Heerführer dieses Krieges, Generalfeldmarschall Erwin Rommel, Träger der höchsten deutschen Tapferkeitsauszeichnung. Zahlreiche hohe Vertreter von Wehrmacht, Partei und Staat waren erschienen, um dem Verblichenen die letzte Ehre zu erweisen. Generalfeldmarschall von Rundstedt würdigte in einer Gedenkrede die grossen Verdienste des toten Marschalls und legte im Auftrage des Führers einen Kranz an seinem Sarge nieder.-

Staatsbegräbnis für den am 14. 10. 1944 verstorbenen Generalfeldmarschall Erwin Rommel, der wegen seiner Verbindung zu den Verschwörern vom 20. Juli zum Selbstmord gezwungen wurde.

Trauerfeier am 18. 10. im Ulmer Rathaussaal. Die Totenwacht halten vier Generale des Heeres. Generalfeldmarschall Gerd von Rundstedt hält die Gedenkrede.
