Description
English: Family of Boers

Original description as presented by the Swaziland National Trust Commission's Digital Archives:

"Boer Family, 1886. The Boers (Afrikaans for farmers) were of Dutch descent. Recognized by many as farmers and cattle owning resourceful people who when faced with situations they did not like (anything to do with British rule in the Cape) they loaded up their ox-wagons and left. Their life and values were based upon the Old Testament Bible which was the guide on their travels. The Bible was their justification for peace. Because of their isolation they suffered from social ostracisation. When they were faced with loss of property and political control by the British quest for land and gold they stood their ground and fought back - the results were the Boer Wars. The Brits vs the Boer"
