| Description |
English: The picture is a Greek Catholic icon depicting the scene of the baptism of Christ with John the Baptist on the right. It is celebrated as Epiphany (or Theophany) by the Christian church. The icon was painted in the end of the 18th century as part of the iconostasis of the Greek Catholic Cathedral of Hajdúdorog, Hungary. This icon is placed on the first tier of the iconostasis, the so called Great Feasts tier. This icon is the fifth painting from the right.
Magyar: A kép Jézus megkeresztelésének jelenetét ábrázolja, a kép jobb oldalán Keresztelő Szent Jánossal. Jézus megkeresztelkedéséről a keresztény egyház Vízkereszt ünnepén emlékezik meg. Az ikont a 18. század végén festették, a hajdúdorogi görög katolikus székesegyház ikonosztázára. Ezt az ikont az ikonosztáz első sorában, az úgynevezett Ünnepi sorban találhatjuk. Ez az ikon a sorban jobbról az ötödik festmény. |
