Türkçe: Sekiz yıl önce bugün vefat eden, Monet tutkunu bir Başbakan Başbakan Bülent Ecevit, Nisan 1974’te, Fransa Cumhurbaşkanı Pompidou’nun cenaze törenine katılmak üzere Başbakan Yardımcısı Necmettin Erbakan ve Milli Savunma Bakanı Hasan Esat Işık’la birlikte Paris’teydi. Törenin ardından, Monet’nin bahçelerinin bulunduğu Giverny kasabasına gittiler. Aynı zamanda bir çiftçi olan, Giverny Belediye Başkanı Bernard Berche ile bahçelerin bakımını yapan bahçıvan Mösyö Blain ve Jean-Marie Toulgouat heyete refakat etti. Bahçelerin bakımsızlığından ötürü, Türkiye’den gelen ve İngilizce’yi mükemmel konuşan bu zarif başbakanın önünde çok mahcup oldukları söylenir. 1970’lerin sonunda onarılarak kamuya açılan Monet’nin evi ve bahçeleri, yılda yaklaşık bir milyon ziyaretçi ağırlıyor. Fotoğrafları, Gülgün Üstündağ’ın çektiği tahmin ediliyor. |
