Nederlands: Op 11 april 1689 werden Willem III en zijn vrouw Maria Stuart in een zitting van het Britse Hogerhuis tot koning en koningin van Engeland gekroond. In deze fraaie prent heeft Romeyn de Hooghe (1645-1708) 9 scenes van de kroningsceremonie vastgelegd, van het afhalen van de kroonjuwelen uit de Tower van Londen tot aan de vreugdevuren op de Theems. In het midden van de plaat is de feitelijke kroning uitgebeeld.; De prent is samengesteld uit 9 delen (A-I) waarin 9 momenten van de kroningsdag zijn vastgelegd. Elk van deze delen heeft een Nederlandse en Engelse titel. De titel van de prent is ontleend aan de bijbehorende toelichting.
English: William III and his wife Mary Stuart were crowned as King and Queen of England during a session of the British House of Lords on 11 April 1689. Romeyn de Hooghe (1645-1708) documented this day in the beautiful print with 9 scenes of the coronation, from the fetching of the Crown Jewels from the Tower of London to the bonfires on the River Thames. The coronation itself is depicted in the middle of the print.
