| Description |
The 11th day of Armenian presidential election protests. At 7:30 am, the peaceful "camp-in" protest at Liberty Square in Yerevan was violently ended by Armenian special forces which used truncheons and electric shock devices to disperse the crowd of around 1,000. At 12:30 pm, a new crowd marches to the French Embassy in a spontaneous demonstration, barricade themselves using abandoned police buses, and grow in number to around 150,000. By 12 am, about 2,000 demonstrators are left barricaded. This picture shows the intersection of Mashdots (Prospect) Avenue and G. Lusavorich / Paronian St, the location of the 9pm clashes with police. (Looking northwest up Paronian St.) An ambulance approaches the scene. |
