Anthus cinnamomeus Rüppell, 1840 subsp. rufuloides Roberts, 1936 Afrikaans: Nes van 'n Grasveldkoester te Zoutpan naby Pretoria. Die nes was in die skadu van 'n groen graspol, met ingang ooswaarts, op 'n gelyk en goedbeweide vloedvlakte. Die voël het uit die nes ontsnap toe ons baie naby kom, en het 'n uitgebreide terrestriële afleidingsvertoning uitgevoer voor dit opgevlieg en die tipiese sang van die spesie geuiter het.
English: Nest of a Grassveld pipit at Zoutpan near Pretoria. The nest was placed at the shaded base of a green grass tussock, facing east, on a well-grazed and level floodplain. The bird escaped from the nest as we came very near, and acted out an elaborate terrestrial distraction display, before it rose into the air and gave the typical Grassveld pipit song. |
