Nederlands: Van passagierstoestel naar militair tankervliegtuig. In het Spaanse Getafe worden op dit moment de eerste 2 van in totaal 8 A330-vliegtuigen omgebouwd. Die heeft Nederland samen met 4 NAVO-partners aangekocht. Dat betekent dat de KDC-10’s, de huidige tankers van de luchtmacht, met pensioen kunnen.
De Airbus A330-MRTT is bedoeld voor Multi Role Tanker Transport. Vliegtuigen tanken in de lucht, met 111.000 liters kerosine die het vliegtuig bij zich draagt. Maar maximaal 267 mensen vervoeren of tot 45.000 kilo aan goederen is voor het toestel ook geen probleem. Samen met Noorwegen, Duitsland, Luxemburg en België heeft Nederland 8 van deze toestellen besteld.English: From passenger aircraft to military tanker aircraft.
