English: The design of the Brickell Avenue Bridge was an international competition and the winning architectural firm introduced art in its design. This was the first time that the Florida Department of Transportation incorporated architecture, art and engineering in a bridge design. In addition, Sculptor Carbonell incorporated bronze bas-reliefs of the Miami's pioneers and the Florida Fauna. |
