Description
English: Detail of a statue of Hetepedief, priest of the mortuary cults of three sovereigns of the 2nd dynasty, whose serekh are given in chronological order: Hotepsekhemwy, Raneb and Nynetjer.

Discovered in 1888 in Memphis, the statue is in speckled red granite. Dimensions: Height 39 cm, width 18 cm, thickness 20 cm. Conservation: Egyptian Museum, Cairo JE 34557 = CG 1

This statue is one of the earliest example we have of private Egyptian sculpture.

His name and that of his own father, Mery Djehuty, are carved into the base of the statue.
