Summary

Description

1928 Movado chronometer, silver case covered in lizard skin, Watch Museum of Le Locle (Switzerland). "Normal" size, dimensions with case closed 48 x 33.6 mm. Silvered dial with arabic numerals, blued steel and Radium painted hands. Movado in-house movement calibre 150MN, adjusted to four positions, 15 jewels, breguet hairspring, bimetallic compensation balance. This unit has the "Non-Stop" variant for Ermeto models with automatic winding case: special stem with gear, barrel with friction clutch (tiny screw at the edge of the ratchet-wheel screw).

“CHRONOMÈTRE/MOVADO/SWISS” printed in black in the 23 mm square dial and stamped at its very top in English "PAT.APPL.FOR." in uncolour, tiny letters, in reference to the United States patent 1707906, applied 3 December 1927 and granted 2 April 1929 for the rack-winding system, which dates this watch in 1928 (or early 1929). After the patent was granted, units fitted with the abovementioned winding system featured at the dial’s very top “U.S.PAT.1707906” in 1929/1930.

On its reverse side, the watch case upper part is stamped “MOVADO FACTORIES” and below the serial number “1197348”, in the lower part appears “SWISS MADE PATENT FAB. SUISSE”.
