English: From the source, Photograph of the of ruins at Eran, Sagar District taken by Henry Cousens between 1892 and 1894. The town of Eran has been occupied from the second century BC onwards. It is located in a naturally defensible position, in a bend in the Bina river. Eran was an important site during the Gupta period and this view shows some of the monuments that were built at that time. The main structure shown in this photograph is the small pillared portico of a ninth century Vishnu Temple. Broken columns carved with the vase and foliage motif lie on the ground and a sculpture of Vishnu can be seen in the background to the left. This photograph is taken from the south-east
