Description
English: Here and in nearly all of the autumn views in the series, the conical tops of the stacks point out into the sky. But in most of the winter views, the main part of the series, the stacks seem wrapped by hill and field. For Monet the stack was a symbol of survival. He followed this group with further series depicting poplars, the facade of Rouen Cathedral, and, later, his own garden at Giverny.

Public domain

The author died in 1926, so this work is in the public domain in its country of origin and other countries and areas where the copyright term is the author's life plus 95 years or fewer.

You must also include a United States public domain tag to indicate why this work is in the public domain in the United States. Note that Mexico has a term of 100 years and does not implement the rule of the shorter term, so this image may not be in the public domain in Mexico.
