Win News citationsEdit

I've reviewed the AfC rejection comments left by KylieTastic (this diff). With the Win News sources, I'm wondering whether to use the Cite News template or the Cite Episode template. Win broadcast a half hour news bulletin in each market it broadcasts into, then posts most of the stories to the corresponding Facebook pages.

The Cite News template would render like this: "RUGBY UNION". Win News Sunshine Coast. Win Television. 11 October 2019. Retrieved 26 May 2020.

The Cite Episode would render the same citation as: "Win News Sunshine Coast Friday October 11, 2020". Win News. October 11, 2020. WIN Television. RTQ.

Some feedback on this would be much appreciated. --RockerballAustralia (talk) 01:12, 7 June 2020 (UTC)

I suppose I should ping in @KylieTastic: as they did the initial review to see what they think. —RockerballAustralia (talk) 00:58, 8 June 2020 (UTC)
  • Hi RockerballAustralia even though it's a news post because it's on facebook the first does get flagged by some tools as "Generally unreliable" and highlighted in red because of the list WP:RSPSOURCES. But the cite news is more useful as someone can access it and verify. I would stick with the first but add additional text sources when you can. I recognise that some facebook and youtube videos can be good news sources, but due to how often people spam links to random facebook posts and youtube videos a lot of editors just discount them as not valid. So I would say keep them when you can't find other sources, but for notability of a subject it's best to rely on other sources. So keep the cite news, and add other text sources as you already have. I'm beginning to wonder whether me moving this page to the article space would be within the scope of WP:BOLD as it has been three weeks since my resubmitting of this draft. Nothing I can see at that page seems to prohibit it – at least not directly. I'm posting here to see if there is another point of view that disagrees with my wonderings. --RockerballAustralia (talk)

I've looked through other policies and can't see anything that would stop me from moving this to article space. Sulfurboy and KylieTastic given that both of you have reviewed my article submissions in the past I think it wise to ask your thoughts. --RockerballAustralia (talk) 03:29, 21 June 2020 (UTC)
  • Hi RockerballAustralia yes you are correct that you can move this to mainspace yourself rather than continue to wait for a review. Only really new accounts, IP editors and editors under sanctions can not do this. The only consequence is that it would then be reviewed at some point by a new page patroller who could tag or submit to WP:AFD. If your happy it meets the notability guidelines then go for it - it's an option that I believe should be clearer to those waiting long times for AfC reviews.
