Pekka ja Pätkä lumimiehen jäljillä (Swe. Kalle Träskalle och Stumpen i Snömannens Spår) is the third movie in the Pekka and Pätkä film series, released in 1954. It's the first of the series to feature the names of both starring characters and the first to give Armand Lohikoski a writing credit.
The film stars Esa Pakarinen, Masa Niemi and Siiri Angerkoski. The film features the second appearances of Olavi Virta and Åke Lindman in the film series. Nestori Lampi, the heaviest actor in Finland, plays one of the tourists in his debut as a series regular. Vihtori Välimäki, who plays the yeti, would appear in cameos in subsequent films in the series.
Plot summaryEdit
The film starts on April Fools' Day. After Pekka has slept for a week, he tricks Pätkä to doing his house work before Justiina arrives. Being sent for groceries, Pekka and Pätkä read about a yeti sighting in Kilpisjärvi and plan to capture it using Justiina as bait.
ProductionEdit
The film was shot around Kilpisjärvi and features a scene of the characters scaling Halti.
Vihtori Välimäki was hired via a public search for the tallest actor. Välimäki stood 203 centimeters. Though a welder by profession, he would have cameos in later Pekka and Pätkä films.
