Lorin Jones-Stubbs (Composer)
editLorin William Jones-Stubbs (born 17 February 1987) is an English / American contemporary composer, pianist, multi-instrumentalist, singer songwriter & producer, whose work spans classical, avant-garde, and rock genres. He has composed over 300 works, including orchestral pieces, piano solos, and rock albums, and has performed across the northwest of England.[1][2][3]
Early Life and Education
editJones-Stubbs began learning piano at the age of six, later expanding his musical interests to include clarinet, guitar, bass & vocals. His interest in composition began in his early teens, inspired by a viewing of Eroica, a film about Beethoven’s Third Symphony. That same evening, he composed his first piece, Piano Sonatina (2004).[1][2][3]
He studied music composition and professional practice at Coventry University, where he was mentored by musicians and composers Bob Ramskill, Marcus Cornell, and Christopher Hobbs. During his studies, Jones-Stubbs developed an interest in avant-garde music, drawing comparisons to composers such as Leo Ornstein and Conlon Nancarrow.[2]

editJones-Stubbs’s body of work includes solo piano compositions, orchestral pieces, and albums that blend classical and contemporary influences. Notable works include Fantasia for Piano and Small Orchestra, titled A Folk Tale, and a series of string compositions released as Music for Strings. Beyond composition, Jones-Stubbs is active as a performer, with a focus on interpreting and reviving classical works, particularly those by lesser-known composers. His performances incorporate both original works and reimagined classical pieces.[3]
