Chanson sur ma drôle de vie (Song About My Funny Life) is a song composed, written, and recorded in 1972 by Véronique Sanson. It was the second single from her second album De l'autre côté de mon rêve (On the Other Side of My Dream).

Since its release, the song has been well received by the public, especially through Sanson's concerts and various covers (it is Sanson's most covered song after Amoureuse). For example, it was covered by Géraldine Nakache and Leïla Bekhti in the soundtrack of the film Tout ce qui brille (All That Glitters). The song is also referenced in Patrick Bruel's song Dans ces moments-là (In Those Moments).

When examining the lyrics more closely, one notices that Sanson's priority has always been the sound of words, even over their meaning. This approach led to some gentle teasing in the satirical magazine Le Crapouillot.[2] An example of this is how the second verse of the chorus resonates more powerfully due to an unusual internal rhyme:
"Me donne - tous - ses emblèmes / Me - tou - che quand même / Du - bout - de ses doigts."

editIn late 2012, Bruel released the album Lequel de nous, with the single Dans ces moments-là, referencing his group of friends.[3] The song reflects on painful memories, suggesting that one of the group had passed away, and Bruel wonders:
"What do we say in moments like these? (…) What do we do with our memories? (…) He would have wanted us to laugh That I take up my guitar And that everyone sings like before This melody of Sanson A funny life, a chill Just a few notes of adolescence Like children stepping forward."
