Born and raised in Colombia, he has been naturalized by Equatorial Guinea and played for that national team,[1] despite not complying with FIFA eligibility rules.[2][3]

He has no ancestors in this African country, he had never been to this place in the world. However, Jimmy Bermúdez, a Colombian friend footballer, recommended him to go play there. He told him that the process of naturalisation was simple. He signed some papers and a few days later he was called by the head coach of that national team
