Batken District

Batken (Kyrgyz: Баткен району) is a raion (district) of Batken Region in south-western Kyrgyzstan. Its area is 5,948 square kilometres (2,297 sq mi), and its resident population was 69,591 in 2009.[1] The capital lies at Batken.[2]

In total, Batken District include 42 settlements in 9 rural communities (aiyl okmotus). Each rural community can consist of one or several villages. The rural communities and settlements in the Batken District are:[1]

  1. Dara aiyl okmotu (9: center - village: Jangyryk; and also villages Tynyk-Suu, Kan, Tabylgy, Kayyngdy, Sary-Talaa, Korgon-Tash, Jangy-Jer and Chek)
  2. Tert-Gyul aiyl okmotu (5: center - village: Ak-Ötök; and also villages Ak-Turpak, Zar-Tash, Chong-Kara and Chong-Talaa)
  3. Kara-Bak aiyl okmotu (4: center - village: Kara-Bak; and also villages Dostuk, Kyzyl-Bel and Chet-Kyzyl)
  4. Kara-Bulak aiyl okmotu (2: center - village: Bujum; and also village Kara-Bulak)
  5. Kyshtut aiyl okmotu (6: center - village: Tayan; and also villages Gaz, Kyshtut, Say, Sogment and Charbak)
  6. Samarkandek aiyl okmotu (3: center - village: Samarkandyk; and also villages Jangy-Bak and Pasky-Aryk)
  7. Ak-Say aiyl okmotu (5: center - village: Ak-Say; and also villages Kök-Tash, Üch-Döbö, Kapchygay and Tashtumshuk)
  8. Ak-Tatyr aiyl okmotu (3: center - village: Ak-Tatyr; and also villages Ravat and Govsuvar)
  9. Suu-Bashin aiyl okmotu (5: center - village: Boz-Adyr; and also villages Apkan, Bejey, Kara-Tokoy and Aygül-Tash)
