Bala Shirud (Persian: بالاشيرود), also Romanized as Bālā Shīr Rūd,[3] was a village in Goli Jan Rural District of the Central District of Tonekabon County, Mazandaran province, Iran. It is on the Caspian Sea.

At the 2006 National Census, its population was 400 in 123 households.[2]

After the census, the villages of Bala Shirud, Beramsar, Hemmatabad, Kaseh Gar Mahalleh, Khezr Konar, Kochanak, Lapa Sar, Lashtu, Mian Daj Mahalleh, Mohammadabad, Mojtame-ye Meskuni Farhangian, Pain Shirud, Ramj Mahalleh, Rashidiyeh, Shaghuz Kaleh, Sharifabad, Tamijanak, Vachak, and Zaruj Mahalleh were merged to establish the city of Shirud.[4]
