Anees Bazmee (Born November 1, 1962) is an Indian film director, writer and producer who is known for his works in Hindi cinema. In a career spanning over three and a half decades, he has written and directed over 60 films in Hindi, Tamil and Marathi across varied genres. He is best known for directing several successful comedy films like No Entry (2005), Welcome (2007) and Singh Is Kinng (2008), among others.

Anees Bazmee was born in a remote town of Modasa in Gujarat, India to an Urdu poet Abdul Hameed 'Nerang' Bazmee and housewife Khatoon Begum. He came to Mumbai in 1976 and worked as a child artist. He later also dabbled in a number of jobs like art direction, editing and sound recording.
Actor As a child artist, he acted in movies like Kitaab (1977) and Bhayanak (1979). He played a young Shatrughan Sinha in Naseeb (1981).
Writer and director 1980’s and 1990’s In 1982, Anees Bazmee worked alongside the legendary actor and filmmaker Raj Kapoor in the film Prem Rog as an assistant director. He worked as a dialogue writer for the film Hum Farishte Nahin in 1988. In 1990, he wrote the screenplay for the film ‘Swarg’. Directed by David Dhawan, it starred superstars Rajesh Khanna and Govinda. He would go on to work with Dhawan and Govinda several times. In the next five years, he wrote more than 15 scripts, delivering back to back hits such as Shola Aur Shabnam (1992), Bol Radha Bol (1992), Aankhen (1993), Raja Babu (1994), Laadla (1994), to mention a few. In the year 1995, the film Hulchul which starred Ajay Devgan, Kajol and Vinod Khanna marked Anees Bazmee’s directorial debut. In 1997, he wrote the story, screenplay and dialogue for Deewana Mastana. In 1998, he delivered the blockbuster Pyaar Toh Hona Hi Tha, once again starring Ajay devgan and Kajol. The film was both a major critical and commercial success. After the success of Pyaar Toh Hona Hi Tha, Bazmee took a five-year break from directing. He returned in 2002 with the thriller Deewangee. The film Mujhse Shaadi Karogi followed in 2004.
In 2005, Bazmee wrote and directed the star studded comedy film, No Entry. The film became the biggest hit of the year, earning over Rs 430 million in the domestic box office. The following years saw him breaking records with successful movies like the Akshay Kumar and Katrina Kaif led Welcome (2007) and Singh is Kinng (2008). 2010’s
2011 saw Salman Khan and Asin in the lead role for the Bazmee directed Ready. In 2015, he was back again with Welcome Back that boasted an ensemble cast. In 2017, he directed the film Mubarakan starring Anil Kapoor, Arjun Kapoor and Ileana D’cruz. In 2019 he directed a romantic comedy Pagalpanti starring Anil Kapoor, John Abraham and Ileana D’cruz.
