Anas Rashid is an Indian television actor who actively works in the Indian soap operas. Rashid begin his acting career with a supporting role in the Star Plus tragic romance Kahiin To Hoga (2006–07). He rose to fame for portraying the eponymous character in the highly successful historical drama Dharti Ka Veer Yodha Prithviraj Chauhan (2006–09), that garnered him critical acclaim and several awards. From 2011–16, Rashid portrayed the leading role of Sooraj Arun Rathi in the soap opera Diya Aur Baati Hum, which rank among the highest-rated Indian television series.[3][4][5]

Early lifeEdit

Rashid was born in Malerkotla into a conservative Muslim family.[1] He has two brothers and two sisters. He did his schooling from an Urdu Medium School and has done his post-graduation in Psychology. He is fluent in Urdu, Arabic and Persian languages. He is also a trained singer well. He also won the title of Mr. Punjab in 2004.[1] His cousins are television actors Mohammad Nazim and Ather Habib.[6][better source needed]

CareerEdit

Rashid made his screen debut with the Star Plus drama Kahiin To Hoga as Kartik Ahluwalia. He went on to feature in a supporting role in the drama Aise Karo Naa Vidaa. However, his breakthrough role was the portrayal of Prithviraj Chauhan, in the historical drama Dharti Ka Veer Yodha Prithviraj Chauhan (also on Star Plus), which made him a household name in India.He worked as the male lead in Diya Aur Baati Hum, where he portrayed the role of Sooraj Rathi, an uneducated sweet seller, who marries a well-educated women Deepika Singh. Rashid also marked his singing debut with one of the series song. Diya Aur Baati Hum ranks among the highest-rated Indian television serials. His performance in the series earned him wide recognition as well as several accolades.[7][2]

Personal lifeEdit

Rashid married Heena Iqbal, a corporate professional from Chandigarh, in 2017. They have a daughter, born in 2019.[8]
