Amine Özil (née Gülşe) is a Swedish-Turkish actress, model and beauty pageant titleholder born and raised in Sweden. She was crowned Miss Turkey 2014 and represented her country at the Miss World 2014 pageant.[1] She can speak Turkish, English, and Swedish fluently, and Spanish at a good level. Her engagement to German footballer Mesut Özil[2] was announced in January 2019. The pair were married in Istanbul in June 2019.

Life and careerEdit

Gülşe was born and raised in Gothenburg, Sweden. Her mother is from İzmir, Turkey, and her father is an Iraqi Turkmen from Kirkuk, Iraq. She has a brother named Şahan Gülşe.

She relocated to Istanbul to work as an actress and a model.[3][4] She starred in the 2015 Turkish television series Asla Vazgeçmem.[5][6][7] In 2017 Gülşe began dating footballer Mesut Özil.[8] The couple married on 7 June 2019.[9] Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan witnessed the wedding as Best Man.[10]

Miss Turkey 2014Edit

Gülşe won Miss Turkey 2014 and was crowned as Miss World Turkey.[11] The Miss Turkey pageant for 2014 was held at the Star TV Studios in Istanbul on May 27.[12] After a year she crowned Ecem Cirpan as her successor.

Miss World 2014Edit

Gülşe competed at Miss World 2014 but did not place in the finals.[13]
