List of ambassadors of Russia to Pakistan

Diplomatic relations was established on embassy level on May 1, 1948 when the Russian embassy was opened in former capital of Pakistan, Karachi. But until 1949, there were no ambassador appointed by Russian government. On November 22, 1949 Ivan Nikolaevich Bakulin was appointed as the first ambassador of Russia (then the Soviet Union until 1991). In August 1960 the capital of Pakistan was moved from its largest city to the newly founded city of Islamabad, since the Russian embassy is based in Islamabad with the Russian ambassador as chief of it. Since December 14, 2013 Alexey Y. Dedov serves as current Russian ambassador to Pakistan. He was preceded by the former ambassador Andrey Budnik.

About the current ambassadorEdit

Alexey Dedov was appointed Russian Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the Islamic Republic of Pakistan by the Executive Order of the President of Russia 1911 dated December 14, 2013. He presented his credentials as Russian Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the Islamic Republic of Pakistan to President Mamnoon Hussain on February 27, 2014.

Alexey Dedov was born in 1960. In 1982 he graduated from the Moscow State University of International Relations. He joined the Ministry for Foreign Affairs in 1982 and had a number of assignments in the Foreign Ministry Headquarters and Russian diplomatic missions in foreign countries.
