2024 FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup

The 2024 FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup (Spanish: Copa Mundial Femenina Sub-17 de la FIFA República Dominicana 2024) will be the 8th edition of the FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup, the biennial international women's youth football championship contested by the under-17 national teams of the member associations of FIFA. It will be hosted by the Dominican Republic. It will be the first time the Dominican Republic has ever hosted a FIFA tournament.[1]

Host selection edit

Dominican Republic was announced as the 2024 Women's U-17 World Cup hosts following the FIFA Council meeting on 23 June 2023 in Zürich, Switzerland.[1]

Venue edit

The city of Santo Domingo will host all the matches, confirmed by FIFA on 15 October 2023[2]

A total of 16 teams qualify for the final tournament. In addition to Dominican Republic who qualified automatically as hosts, the other 15 teams qualify from six separate continental competitions.

The official draw will take place in Summer 2024 in Santo Domingo. The teams were allocated based on their performances in the 5 previous U-17 Women's World Cups, five bonus points are added to each of the confederation's current champions that won the respective qualifying tournament (for this cycle). The hosts Dominican Republic are automatically seeded and assigned to position A1. Teams of the same confederation will not meet in the group stage.

Knockout stage edit

In the knockout stage, if a match is level at the end of normal playing time, extra time shall be played (two periods of five minutes each) and followed, if necessary, by a penalty shoot-out to determine the winner. However, for the third place match, if it is played directly before the final, no extra time shall be played and the winner shall be determined by a penalty shoot-out.
