Script updated

Small change request - 2 separate "all" buttons

Hello, would it be possible to have "expand all" and "hide all" (only the top buttons) as 2 separate buttons? Often reviewers (OK, atleast I) open only a few articles - then there is no possibility to hide them again at once without "expanding all" first. 2 separate buttons would make that slightly easier (I am actually not sure, the script didn't have 2 top buttons in the past, but can't remember exactly). feature request - ignore static content (f.e. instructions)

Hello Gary, please see WP:FAC. After some discussion, WP:FAR has been transcluded over there at the page bottom to allow easier (and more) traffic from FAC-reviewers into FAR-reviews (FAR-reviews have been really slow last year). To separate the 2 types of activities, I implemented Template:FAR-instructions/small navbox. That box is transcluded between FAC and FAR (between section 2 and 3), but is currently added to the last FAC-article in the list via nominations viewer. Ideally the box should be "ignored" by the nominations viewer tool and kept always visible without any alterations. FAC and FAR should be collapsed as 1 combined or 2 separate lists (doesn't really matter). Is it possible for the nominations viewer to "ignore" content? If needed, I could add some marker within the naxbox template to make it clear, where the template starts and ends (for parsing). Adding a section above the instructions (like this example from my Sandbox, as either second or third level (== or ===) will do the trick. Those are the only things that stop the script from adding any following content to a nomination. It can be called "Featured article review instructions" or something. I'd rather not add custom code just for this single purpose if possible, as code meant for a single situation is not the best. Let me know if this is acceptable or not. Good idea. I went one step further, and "noincluded" the original top header on the FAR page, so the new header in FAC/FAR duplicates the FAR header layout with the same text. Viewer appears to be broken

@Gary: The viewer appears to have been partially broken by something in the last week or so - checked both FLC and FAC, firefox and chrome. It still collapses nominations and adds '[show] (nomination)', but the nomination link is to "Edit section:_" and there are no summary statistics. Couldn't find anyone else mentioning this elsewhere, so I'm unclear if it's just me despite multiple browsers. --PresN 17:22, 16 July 2018 (UTC)

Gary: it's still broken for me, at least on Chrome. It works on my phone in Safari, but not in Chrome, and it doesn't work on my PC in Chrome. I tried both FLC and FAC. On the PC the page displays with the "Expand all/Collapse all" link at the top of the first nomination, but the collapse link does nothing, and there are no statistics within each nomination. Okay. What version of Chrome, and Windows? Any JavaScript errors? In Chrome, go to View > Developer > JavaScript Console. Then refresh the page. Then click on some broken links, like the expand/collapse one. Any errors should appear in the console. Copy and paste those here. Then you can close the console.

I tested on my Mac in Chrome, Firefox, and Safari; and on my PC in Chrome, and it works fine for me. So I can't diagnose from my end. This script could also be conflicting with one of your other scripts, perhaps. Gary (talk · scripts) 16:37, 2 August 2018 (UTC)

@FunkMonk: I checked all your scripts, by installing them all into my own test account. I did not find any problems. Therefore, it's possible that the problem is with a gadget that you have enabled. You could try disabling all enabled gadgets, then see if this script is still broken.

Or, like I suggested to Mike Christie, please do the following to check if you have any JavaScript errors, in Firefox: Tools > Web Developer > Web Console. Refresh the page where the script doesn't work. Errors should appear in the console (they are highlighted red). Copy and paste the contents of the console here. @FunkMonk: I made a few changes in the past few minutes, so please check again. This issue isn't related to Flash. Does this script work if you login to your Wikipedia account in another browser, like Chrome? Also, try these steps that I told Mike Christie to follow, which helped me fix the problem for him: "Here's what you should do then. (I assume you're using Chrome.) Go to Wikipedia:Featured article candidates. Right-click on the first "edit section" link for the first nomination (as of now, that would be "Deep Space Homer"). Choose "Inspect". A window should appear at the bottom. The line that's selected should begin with <a href. Four lines above that, should be <h3>. Right-click on it, and choose Copy > Copy Element. Didn't change in Chrome at least. The code you posted is the same that I have. If you check on WP:FAC in Chrome, do you have no errors in View > Developer > JavaScript Console? Are you logged in to your account and using the Vector skin (the default one)? Your other option would be to try testing by removing scripts and disabling gadgets until it works. Couldn't find that exact path in Chrome, but went to developer tools where I got this error: "index.php?title=User:Gary/nominations_viewer.js&action=raw&ctype=text/javascript:84 Uncaught SyntaxError: Unexpected token )" and some errors with variations on "This page is using the deprecated ResourceLoader module "jquery.ui.core"." Still doesn't work for me on either browser with my PC, but what you said about old versions might be the key. I just looked at the FAC list on my laptop (has Windows 10), and the entries are collapsed there. So perhaps it is simply my PC that's the problem, it is still running Windows XP, I hate to admit (just waiting for my old PC to die so I can get a new one), and I think support for that stopped from many browsers not so long ago, perhaps coinciding with when this script stopped working for me. @Mike Christie: Okay I made a slight change to how this script detects the "edit section" link on WP:FAC. That's the problem right now; for some reason, the link is different for you than most people. Let me know if it's better now.

I had previously tested the exact scripts you had installed, and removing the one I told you fixed the problem for me, but it seems like perhaps you have some more gadgets that are modifying the "edit" links. Gary (talk · scripts) 01:48, 28 August 2018 (UTC)

Gary, sorry to keep bugging you about this. I've now removed everything from my common.js and vector.js except your scripts, and I'm still getting the same error in the console, and the viewer does not collapse the nominations. @Mike Christie: Great, I think it should be fixed now then. It looks like you have two "edit source" buttons that appear, rather than one. I assume one is hidden though, so you only see one. Nomination age

Hi Gary, would it be possible for you to change the nomination age from months to weeks? We've discussed several times at WP:FAC how nominations are kept open longer nowadays. Displaying the time in months can be misleading; for example, a nom open for nearly three months says two months. Displaying the time in weeks would make things clearer. Support counts

Gary, the support counts are quite unreliable; is there anything that can be done to improve them? Is it because reviewers are no longer in the habit of putting the supports at the left side of the page? Okay I've updated the script to look for votes specified within headings too, now. The problem, though, is that if someone includes their support in both a heading, and in bold text, then it will count twice. But it seems to occur rarely. Gary (talk · scripts) 20:54, 26 February 2019 (UTC)

View bug

Bug using Chrome

I have had this bug for awhile but have been lazy about notifying anyone about it. The bar with read/edit/etc lock and bleed through, and there is a big grey chunk at the bottom of the screen, giving me a really small window to actually view with. Support and oppose counts

The plugin counts 0 support for Wikipedia:Featured article candidates/Jews in Hong Kong/archive1, even though I supported it. Similarly, the plugin counts one oppose for Wikipedia:Featured article candidates/Levantine Arabic/archive1, even though Nikkimaria struck-out their "oppose". Is there anyway to improve that? The Hong Kong FAC is already archived, so I can't check that. The Levantine article, it says 8 supports and 0 opposes. I don't think the script is able to check for support/oppose that's been struck out; it's best to just remove the bold formatting for Support/Oppose instead, since that's what the script looks for. The script is very strict in specifically finding "Support/Oppose" in bold.

The issue has always been that it's difficult to scan for text more than one paragraph away, due to the free-flowing nature of Wikipedia comments. So it's hard to identify who is even supporting or opposing. A single formatting error would break the script, such as if someone replies using the same indentation level as the parent comment. OK I checked the script and indeed in its current version it seems hard to solve the issue related to struck out text. For Jews in HK, too bad we can't reproduce the bug. Couldn't we create a sandbox to reproduce it? A455bcd9 (talk) 20:08, 6 April 2022 (UTC)

I checked the HK FAC, and indeed it says 0 support, and 2 oppose. I see that your support was placed in a heading, which the script doesn't check for. I think normally, people have a heading like "Comments from X" and then have Support somewhere in their comment. Considering this doesn't seem to have been an issue for years, I don't know if it's worth updating the script to check for support in headings as well. Add "Last activity"

Could be nice to add "Last activity: x days ago" on the line, based on the date of the last edit. Some nominations are old but still active and progressing. While some recent nominations can be stalled with no activity. At least for inactive nominations something like "Inactive for more than a week" could be added. What do you think? Sure, that sounds like it could be useful. I don't really have time to do it myself. If anyone wants to do it, it can be done in the `allRevisionsCallback` function, whose parameters include all the revisions for the FAC, so from there you can get the latest revision and then get its date. @Gary: I tried here and I think it looks nice, I'm now using it myself. Feel free to copy my code in your script. I don't know Javascript well so my code may have issues, or it could be optimized (for instance the getTimeAgo and getActivity functions are largely similar and may be merged into one with a parameter).
