This page is a reference to how different counties across New York State currently display county routes and name CRs, if at all. The columns mean as follows:

  • Posted: are county route numbers found in the field?
  • Shield: does the county sign their county routes with reassurance shields? If not, these county's county routes should not have shields next to them in junctions or in browses per WP:ELG, which prohibits the use of shields or markers for unsigned routes.
  • MUTCD: does the county use the MUTCD (yellow-on-blue) pentagon for its reassurance shields? If the county does use shields but does not use the MUTCD pentagon, see the notes column for what they do use.
  • Common name: the name to use in prose for this county's routes, typically "County Route" or "County Road".
